Donate shares.
Support community.
Enabling business generosity.
Share Collective is making it easy for business to do good.
Community should be a shareholder and a stakeholder in successful kiwi businesses. We provide companies, founders and investors with a simple, highly strategic way to make a positive impact in Aotearoa, through the donation of shares. By keeping overheads low, and combining contributions from multiple businesses, we amplify the positive impacts of giving.
Donated shares are held in a passive charitable portfolio, with funds derived from dividends or a company sale used to support critical impact areas. Donors receive regular impact stories and become part of a community of like-minded leaders and investors. Most importantly, this innovative approach to giving means that the profits generated from donated shares will address some of the biggest challenges facing Aotearoa.
Share Collective ensures community benefits from the business success, which is ultimately created in partnership with the communities where they operate.
How it works
Share Collective accepts shares gifted by generous donors. We hold the shares in a passive, charitable portfolio, and distribute funds earned through dividends or company sales to causes across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Unlike other share donation schemes, we aren't looking to aggregate and sell listed shares—instead, we take a long term view, holding donated shares in trust. We accept shares from any values aligned company, listed or unlisted, at any stage of growth and development.
We actively encourage founders and start-ups to donate equity, as a way to establish ESG credentials, bring their values to life, and ensure the positive impact of future returns.
Not every business will succeed, but thanks to our diverse portfolio, community will benefit from those that do.
Our Donors
Our donors are strategic thinkers, community minded entrepreneurs, innovative founders and everyday shareholders. They have chosen to donate to Share Collective for a wide range of reasons. Our donors choose which impact area they would like to contribute to—increasing social equity or environmental action—and receive regular updates, stories of change and opportunities to engage with our funding recipients.
Our Impact
Share Collective funds non-profits that are addressing the systemic drivers of inequity and environmental challenges in Aotearoa New Zealand. We will partner with organisations that have ambitious goals and clear strategies to generate change.
Funding decisions are made by a committee with deep knowledge of each of our impact areas, supported by the Share Collective team. Read more about our funding purpose and principles here.
